School collaborations

From basic life skills — like measuring with a ruler and using a drill — to key developmental aspects like manual dexterity; hand-eye coordination; and design thinking; crafting has historically been an essential part of school curricula. However, in recent years, technology has largely taken up the space that craft education used to hold.

Many schools are now feeling the need to go "back to basics", but often lack the infrastructure, experienced staff, and methodology needed to do so in a safe and agile manner. Having taught over a thousand children woodcrafting both in our own workshops and on partner schools' premises, we are proud of our history of continued partnerships with schools that understand the importance of craft education and put their trust in Knock on Wood to deliver it.

What we offer

Here are some of the ways in which we can collaborate — among many others, of course!

What the schools say

We were warmly welcomed to the workshop space which is fantastic: light, airy and well organised. The day was well structured but with flexibility to suit the group size which made for a more hands on experience for all the students. The activities were well staffed with qualified instructors who related very well to the age group and background information about the materials and safety instructions were well targeted. We will certainly be back next year with our next cohort of DP students.

Head of Design at International School of Geneva (ISG)

Knock on Wood provided a unique professional learning experience for me and my team. We work in the education sector and wanted to learn more about applying woodworking skills in our classes and Knock on Wood was able to offer a bespoke course just for us. We were so pleased with their professionalism and attention to customer satisfaction that we had some of our summer camp students work with them for a portion of their program!

Innovation Lab Teacher at Leysin American School (LAS)

I've brought my primary school classes and I have also gone with friends and each time I have been impressed with the professionalism, creativity and organization of Knock on Wood. Children (and adults too!) need the chance to put down the phones and computers and pick up some tools and create. I couldn't recommend more!
